Scrappy quilted pillow

Scrappy pillow with quilt binding.

I made this scrappy pillow with many of the same fabrics that I used to make a tree skirt several years ago. I love the binding because I feel that it gives it a nice finish.

Even though several of the fabrics are not necessarily Christmas prints, they coordinate very nicely with the fabric that are strictly speaking, Christmas prints.

To make this pillow, I used 72 squares cut from scraps. I cut them very carefully so that the I would not have trouble matching the seams. I still had trouble matching the seams. I used a square cut precisely 2 x 2 inches to assist me in sewing perfectly matched squares. I was a great aid.

I’ve seen similar pillows with very cute embroidered sayings, in the horizontal strip. I chose to leave mine plain, mainly because I just wasn’t in the mood to embroider, The pillow is complete with a simple envelope back.

This pillow coordinates nicely with the hexagon pillow, and the tree skirt. It makes for a nicely coordinated set.
